Leaving aside the world of gaming for a moment and dwelling more on the use and practicality of devices that integrate perfectly with daily life, we can only think about the improvements proposed by Plantronics . The American manufacturer boasts a very respectable path, since the distant 60s and iconic was the well-known photo of Neil Armstrong wearing a particular model of headset created specifically for NASA , especially in the Apollo missions. Without taking the Shuttle or becoming an astronaut, Plantronics used its know-how and made it accessible to everyone. In the field of Bluetooth headsets, we are in the presence of a quality brand, where competence and reliability reign in a sphere that sees the human being always in contact with his peers through mobile devices. Obviously Plantronics has also expanded its support to channels related to entertainment, sports and gaming, but the new flagship model winks at the recent wearables and in this case takes the form of the Voyager 6200 UC .
Features
The Voyager 6200 UC represent the first Bluetooth headset
marketed by Plantronics, thus enriching the category of wearable peripherals .
The solution with a headband that wraps around the nape of the neck is
undoubtedly designed to guarantee practicality and ease in using all the
controls on the device. Abandoning the style of the previous 5200 UC, where the
headset represented the classic Plantronics standard , this new model adds a
comfort that will make its use pleasant. But let's move on to understand
specifically what particularities accompany the Voyager 6200 UC.

Our proof
Although the shape, as mentioned above, does not resemble a
traditional headset, it is good to remember that the Voyager 6200 headphones
are aimed at a professional clientele , where office work is the ideal target.
For this reason we used the earphones in full working capacity , so that we can
also use the USB adapter, supplied in the package.
Bringing Bluetooth connectivity with it, we paired the
headphones with every device, from the normal smartphone to the PC, up to an
association with a Panasonic P60VT60 television . Obviously they are passive
earphones and instead of a 3.5mm jack cable, we will be free from any clutter
with the wireless connection , without giving up the pleasure of listening to a
clear and almost perfect sound. The earphones have a precise shape to offer
maximum comfort during use, thanks also to the total weight of 56 grams . We
also spent 6 hoursin a row, without removing the earphones from the pavilions,
with the result of having finished the day with the desire to listen to music on
the way back from the office.
Comfortable ear
aside, the headband does not serve as a mere aesthetic accessory, but at the
same time (it will also be nice to see) contains all the power of the earphones
. When pairing via smartphone, using the headset for voice calls, you will no
longer have the opportunity to use the mobile device by hand. A vibration
emitted by the headband will send us the impulse of an incoming call, making
our neck tremble, while the voice dialer will tell us who is calling (obviously
if the contact is present in the address book). At that points we will be able
to refuse the call or accept it via a button inside the bow, on our right. The
volume is on the same side, but placed on the surface, instrategic position and
getting there will only require instinct. On the left, on the other hand, in
the upper part there is the MUTE button that will allow us to exclude the
microphone until it is reactivated (always with voice alert). It goes without
saying that by holding down the key enabled to answer calls, this can be used
to send voice commands to the smartphone . The response in the commands and the
accuracy are at excellent levels and there has never been a need to repeat the
operation a second time. The duration of the Voyager 6200 UC stands at 9 hours
of talk timeand actually corresponds to reality, perhaps even with a few more
minutes; eventually, the battery gave out on reaching 11 hours with medium volume. In addition to
managing calls, we used hybrid system headsets , between telephone
communication and entertainment with compressed music and video games on a
Razer Phone . The audios quality is excellent, but the volume does not allow
you to push the sound system too much . After all, the Voyagers have been
designed for a more " business " usethan pure entertainment,
including gaming (even if with the right compromise you can still enjoy both
phases). The battery performed well and its lasting support allowed the use of
the headband for whole days, alternating telephone calls with listening to
music.
In addition to the association on a smartphone and its
almost daily use, we used the earphones on a PC, through the BT600 adapter .
The device installs itself, reinforcing the concept of plug and play and once
the device has been recognized, simply associate it with the headband using the
appropriate button; everything will be immediately up and running. With every
video calling software, the earphones responded very well, both in terms of the
quality provided in the input and from the point of view of the microphone .
The interaction keys remain unchanged, except for the support for voice
commands (obviously usable in the mobile environment). Also in this use, the
autonomy of the Voyagers allowed long sessions and ignoring the hour count, we
reloaded the headband on the third day.
The sore point passes for use in full entertainment. Through
a Smart TV mentioned above, we were able to listen to sounds from a different
source and with different uses. The result has not changed (in entertainment
version) as it will be enough for us to change a minimum of amplification to
feel distortions in the earphones. For this reason, the Voyager 6200 UC can
still be used in any area, but the performance obtained will never be that of
other dedicated peripherals (remember that they are always earphones).
The refill is
astounding . The features specify a battery regeneration time of 1.5 hours.
From our tests carried out, both with the base and with only the USB cable, the
complete recharge (less than 10 minutes of remaining conversation) was obtained
in less than 30 minutes . The voice alerts will remind us, once the headphones
are turned on, of their autonomy in addition to the association with the
device. In this regard, the default language is set in English, but through the
use of Plantronics Hub (optional software to download) it can be changed to
Italian. Through the interface it will be possible to change the Voyager
settings , as well as update the firmware released by Plantronics. It is very
interesting to use this interface to modify the acoustic shocks of high volume
sounds, or to change their behavior for incoming calls, including the vibration
of the headband. Each Plantronics device can be managed from the Hub so you can
configure it perfectly according to your needs . In addition to a purely
business use, a feature that could shake the safe purchase could be represented
by the price, set at 279.95 euros .
