HyperX Cloud Stinger - Review

During Gamescom 2016 , we had the chances to have a nice chat with the HyperX guys who showed us the future product line-up and left us a pair of headphones: the brand new HyperX Cloud Stinger which we will talk about today!  futuretechexpert

The Cloud Stinger are headphones that fit into the medium-low price range, but which are characterized by a high quality. The design is minimal and is very reminiscent of stealth bombers, with surfaces with a clean profile. However, this has not prevented the HyperX team from designing headphones that are comfortable and light, even after hours on our head.

OUR PROOF

After two months of testing we can undoubtedly give a good report of these headphones, which we liked a lot right away.

The memory foam and the imitation leather material that cover the pavilions and the central bracket do their duty both in terms of comfort and sound insulation, which is excellent.

This combined with the weight of only 275 grams and the pavilions that can rotate 90 degrees ensure very high comfort, making us forget we are wearing them.

Under the right pavilion we find a slider that will allow us to comfortably raise or lower the volume. Perhaps the only flaw found with these headphones is this. By sliding the slider, the first half of the stroke will increase the volume imperceptibly, and then suddenly turn it up on the remaining half.

The performance of the various sound frequencies is more than adequate, even if at too high volumes there may be some distortion for highs and lows, but given the excellent isolation it is not necessary to push the 50mm drivers to their limits!

Furthermore, to be stereo headphones, the spatial positioning of the sound is very precise and this, especially in gaming, gives us many advantages when playing online in PVP.

Most of our tests were carried out on Overwatch for Xbox One, having put aside the Turtle Beach Elite 800x (which we told you about here ), and the Cloud Stingers, even positioning themselves in a totally different range, came out of the comparison in a more than positive way !

Also excellent is the microphone that has always behaved very well in every situation. We have had the opportunity to try it by playing online and our voice has always clearly reached our interlocutors.

Convenient isolation with " swivel-to-mute " that will allow us to turn off the microphone by simply lifting it.

Among the specifications of the Cloud Stinger there is connectivity with every type of device and we immediately put this feature to the test. Thanks to the 3.5mm 4-pole jack, the connection is plug and play with any device.

On PC we used the Cloud Stingers with all multimedia products such as video and music, the various chat programs such as Skype and Teamspeak and from mobile we tested their qualities both in calls and by sending voice messages, all without encountering any anomalies.

The incoming audio is always crystal clear and this allows you to enjoy videos and music to the fullest, the microphone never struggles and the noise reduction does its duty.

The foam ear pads are removable and this is a feature that will satisfy even users who are also attentive to the cleaning of the headphones to keep them always at the top.
